Fortunate are those born with the vision to create art. Early in life, I realized I had this gift. Over these past 62 years of life, I have created and shared my numerous artworks, and believe this to be the ultimate goal of the artist: To create and share works of beauty that touch the aesthetic sensibilities of those who view them, and to cause a heartfelt reaction. I believe I have succeeded in reaching this goal.
Artworks enrich our lives, giving us unique pleasure, and stimuli for thought that cannot adequately be expressed in words. Yet, whether it is a scholar with a PhD, or a young child who expresses their aesthetic reaction with verbalized expressions. I believe the opinions of both are equal in importance and meaning. I value greatly the reaction from a person of any age or level of education, who with all the honesty in their heart, with great spontaneity and exuberance, unashamedly says, "Oh, how CUTE!!!", or, "OH, my God !, or,
"WOW!"¦just as much as I value the educated verbalized expressions by many scholars.
I do not approve of scholars, teachers or persons who promote their biases, and THEIR sense of aesthetics, as being the MOST relevant criteria for the judgment of quality in artworks. My favorite question to my art students was, "What color is a rose?". Of course the answer is, "ANY COLOR YOU WANT IT TO BE!". I taught my students to believe and understand that their own personal opinion on matters of “beauty”, was as important as the opinion of any other person, no matter if the educational qualifications of the other were of the highest level of scholarship.
