Roberto was born in Cardenas, Tabasco, México in 1956 and has lived in Tijuana, Baja California since 1987. He studied two specialties in medicine: pediatrics and opthalmology, which led to a specialty in pediatric opthalmology. He studied art at the university of Veracruz. Since 1970, he has realized more than 40 collective exhibitions and a dozen individual exhibitions in México and other countries. In the United States, his work has been exhibited in Los Angeles and La Jolla, California.
In 1995 Unicef recognized him for his efforts and participation in works that speak in favor
of the children of the world.
